MHS Students Earn Day of Cyber Certificates

Congratulations Lediah King and Philip Sharpe. Lediah and Philip are students in Mr. Tim Buck's Microsoft Academy (MSITA) class at RCHS. They recently took the Microsoft Office Specialist- Word certification exam and both acheived a perfect score of 1000. All high school students within Rockingham County Schools are able to take MSITA class and earn this internationally recognized credential. Great job Lediah and Philip! Attention Microsoft Office Teachers: Each of you will have access to a powerful tool that should improve the performance of the students in your classes. We hope that access to this program along with the excellent instruction that you already provide will yeild a high success rate in your classes and a greater number of students who are able to obtain a Microsoft Office Credential. An informative session on Gmetrix is scheduled for Summer Conference on Thursday, July 14th. (Strategy:2S1-PA)
Morehead High School Entrepreneurship students engaged in an authentic marketing experience as they presented their ideas for how the Miller-Coors plant might be re-purposed. The groups, under the leadership of MHS Marketing teacher, Lisa Mills, presented their ideas to community leaders and recieved feedback. Morehead High School sent 27 DECA (An Association of Marketing Students) members to Burlington for District 5’s Marketing Competitive Events Conference on December 2. Morehead’s students competed against over 400 students from a thirteen county area. Students participated in four competitive event areas based on their career aspirations. Each student was presented with a situation likely to occur in the business world and had ten minutes to prepare her responses for the judge. Judges were area business people who volunteer their time year after year to allow the students a realistic experience in the world of business. Read more here:
